Six Areas of Focus

CFSI’s policy agenda focuses on six key areas:

1.    Engagement with federal regulators and legislators to expand the availability of safe and affordable financial products and services for low- and moderate-income individuals and families

2.    Advancement of CFSI’s tax time prepaid card proposal, which is being piloted by the U.S. Treasury Department as a potential strategy to deliver a transaction and savings product to millions of tax filers on the federal income tax form

3.    Development of federal policy proposals to address the small-dollar credit needs of low- and moderate-income consumers

4.    Identification and promotion of federal policies to address impediments that affect underbanked consumers’ access to high-quality financial services and products, such as Consumer Identification Program requirements

5.    Bringing policymakers’ attention to new financial education strategies and financial products that deliver personalized, relevant, timely, and actionable information to consumers about their finances and financial decisions

6.    Outreach to policymakers about the financial lives and needs of the low- and moderate-income consumers
